Hillsboro Plein Air

The Hillsboro Plein Air started today.  It was a very nice day for painting and a lot of painters opted for the Jackson Bottom Wetlands.  Luckily, the place is huge, so one could paint with others or not. No shortage of beautiful scenery.

After Lavender, what do you paint?

The gold is in the fields!   The first one was started on location at Jackson School Lavender last week.  I was having trouble making lavender work in the foreground.  So, when I didn't need it for the festival,  I reworked it without lavender at all.

Loose and bright......

Something different happened with this one and I like where it is headed,  I want to keep it loose with lots of contrast and intense color.   I used a photo I took last summer on Sauvie Island.

Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts - Open Show

I have entered three pastels in the Open show at the Lake Oswego Festival of Arts 2011.    My paintings will be in the pavilion tent behind the Lakewood Center building on State Street in Lake Oswego with hundreds of others. There is a juried show in the Lakewood Center,  a craft fair at the park, and several other exhibits.  The map of the festival and maps to the shuttle location are on their website.

I am pleased to announce that I am exhibiting 7 pieces in our Paint-out-group summer show at the Doll Gardner Gallery in SW Portland at the West Hills Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.   The work will be displayed until September 10.

Doll Gardner Art Gallery

The gallery is open to the public and is located in the sanctuary of the West Hills Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in a beautiful forested setting at 8470 S.W. Oleson Road, Portland, OR 97223. On the first Sunday of each month, WHUUF hosts an opening reception for the artist, and the public is invited to join us in celebrating the artist(s) and their work.

The website will have more information about the show in the next few days.

Village Gallery 6x6 show starts next week

Here are my 4 entries for the annual 6x6 show at the Village Gallery in Cedar Mill.  There are approximately 100 artists participating, so there will be about 400 little paintings.  Each painting is done in acrylic on a 6"x6" gallery wrapped canvas, nothing over $50.    My theme this year is "Colorful Crops".
